Could my wife and I have power of attorney?

Q: Should we consider filing a power of attorney for each other?

A: I cannot answer that for you all I can do is re frame the question. If either of you were incapacitated would it then be a good idea? Perhaps perhaps not. Begs the question then, would one then have power over the person or the legal entity? Do you need to file with an authority to give that type of sanction? Perhaps yes, perhaps no.

Sometimes just asking is this a wise thing to do will give you a better answer in my humble opinion – trust your own judgment and act accordingly. Yes you will make missed takes, but that is what learning is all about. The more mistakes you make early in life the better is as those same mistakes later in life will be more expensive.

Like a child the more steps you can do yourself the more empowered you will be – its part of this process to wean yourself away from others making decisions foryou and start taking self responsibility (self empowerment).
